For my I-Search paper I decided to do forensic science. Forensic scientists helps analyze crime scenes for detectives and the police for numerous reasons. They may work in a team or work alone. When working they have to be strong minded and quick on their feet to the case. There are sub fields in the forensic community that a scientist can chose to specialize in. If the scientist chooses not to specialize then they will become a generalist that covers over all the sub fields.
It does not matter the weather when it comes to a case. The forensic scientist has to be prepared to leave the lab and head out to a crime scene to gather evidence. They take pictures, collect evidence, and observe the crime scene, some even sketch the scene. After, they head back to their lab to do tests on their evidence or recreate the crime scene to get a better understanding of what happened. Whether they are in the lab or out at a scene all forensic scientists write reports on their findings from the evidence.
A forensic scientist reports are the end result to the investigation. The report is given to the police, detective, or lawyer that is working the case. Eventually the evidence and findings are taken to court where the criminal is being tried. One of the best skills a Forensic scientist can have is being an excellent writer and verbalist because they may need to explain their findings to the courtroom. A forensic scientists job is challenging but worth it when a case is solved and closed.
