Researching forensic science was an interesting task. Although it wasn't my first choice I enjoyed finding new information on the topic. I have watched television shows such as CSI and Bones since I was little and they only fueled my interest in trying to understand what they did on the shows. I found out that forensic scientists not only help in investigations, that they help in court too. Forensic scientists are often present in court during a case because they may have to explain their findings to a judge to get a suspect charged. I found it interesting that they worked in teams and in order to be in a team they needed to be a close-nit group of people. Forensic scientists don't play around with chemicals or games on computers like I though they did when I was younger. Forensic scientists are intelligent and quick to come up with solutions because if they weren't not many cases would get solved.

After e-mailing a few forensic scientists I quickly learned that they all aren't alike. Some chose to be a generalist and cover all areas, while others chose on specific area. The scientists get to meet many people when working cases and form working friendships. Some forensic scientists travel for work, which I found surprising because I thought they only worked in a lab. Many forensic scientists will travel to the crime scene in order to observe and collect the evidence they find relevant. Having to travel to all the crime scenes can be gruesome because of the type of crime. It made me realize how strong minded these scientists have to be in order to look at something that most would turn away from.

I can't say I would want to become a forensic scientist later in my life, but I feel gratitude towards the people that have enough courage to track down and convict criminals. It's not a job that I would have though to be dangerous, but they put their lives in danger every day by coming into contact with dieses, poisons, and sometimes the criminals. Forensic scientist quick to find solutions and are overall different than what I expected when I started my research.
